Valentine's Day and White Day in Japan
In Valentine's Day sales of chocolate pick up considerably in Japan.
Nothing surprising ?
Maybe so if it were both boys and girls who receive chocolate.
Actually it is especially for boys.
Another proof of Japanese macho society ?
Not in this case.
Valentine's Day was incorrectly introduced in Japan :
girls don't propose a date usually, but on this day they have right to declare love by presenting chocolate.
They say it was a strategy by chocolate manufacturer.
In any case it worked.
Candy manufacturers didn't wait to revenge.
They invented "White Day".
A boy who got chocolate from his love has to give her candies one month later.
White Day has such a big success that in high schools boys can be blamed by girls for not giving candies in return.
