Picnic under cherry blossoms
So, cherry blossoms season is here once more.
We may happen to come upon a cluster of cherry trees in full bloom in the park and at school, or individual trees in a house garden.
Many Japanese have their favorite place for "ohanami", which means seeing flowers, or, as it is happening now, to have a picnic under the cherry blossoms.
One of the most important missions of new employees is to keep a good place for "ohanami".
After work, bosses and their staff eat and drink underneath the cherry blossoms, while families on holidays prepare beautiful lunch boxes, or 'bento', and take their lunch there.
Since people in Japan tend to eat directly from their lunch box, they make sure it looks good when the lid is removed.
It so happens that 'Ohanami' is the first picnic event after the cold winter spell.
"Spring is here...", flowers playfully whisper in your ear.
